Spanish 1 & Spanish 3 Pre-APAll students are different and all actions and reactions are very personal in nature.
Therefore, in my classroom situations will be dealt with as they arise and my reactions to these situations will focus on enabling the student to grow and learn from his or her own actions. In school, as in life, we have choices. We can choose to complete our homework, or we can choose to watch television and get a zero on the assignment instead. My goal is to guide students toward personal responsibility and toward developing the decision-making skills they will need to function in the real world. For all situations that arise I will try to provide consequences that allow the student to experience the results of a poor choice, enabling him or her to make better choices in the future. I hope that you will join me in my pursuit to instill the importance of personal accountability in your student. Class Objectives:Spanish 1 | Non-natives
Students will learn basic vocabulary, the present tense, present progressive tense and preterit tense (regular verbs). Listening, reading, speaking and writing will be applied constantly. Oral presentations will count as a test grade. Spanish 3 | Pre-Ap Students will review reflexive verbs, present, preterit, imperfect and present perfect tense. (all of them regular & irregular form). Listening, reading, speaking and writing will be applied constantly. Oral presentations will count as a test grade. This class will be conducted in Spanish to help students to get ready to the AP class. Speaking & writing in Spanish is required in this class. Students will need to prepare different topics for the rest of the class as part of their grade. Technology, copies and preparation is a "must". |
Grading Policies:
It is the student's responsibility to get his/her make-up work. Make-up work must be turned in account to school policy (1 class day per absence). Test that are missed because of an excused absence MUST be made up next day or next class after being absent. (please talk to the teacher as soon as possible to make arrangements). It is the student's responsibility to schedule a make-up exam with the teacher or else a zero will be entered for that grade. Sleeping in class, working in a different subject, non-attentive or disruptive behavior will result in zero given for that day's participation grade and or assignment. Technology is important in my class. Make sure you listen and follow my instructions when you are allowed to power up/down. Using Skype, texting or using other kind of program to socialize or play is not allowed in my class. Texting or using your phone for not learning reasons will result in confiscating your phone. You will need to contact the office to get your phone back after a period of 3 business days. Assignments | Students are responsible for preparing the scheduled material before coming to class. The use of internet translation sites is prohibited. The teacher reserves the right to fail any paper that was obviously not written by the student. Conferences/Concerns/Student Progress/Questions | Please do not hesitate to contact me via email at [email protected] It is the parent's responsibility to monitor the student's grades via parent portal. Progress reports will be sent out at the 3 week mark. Remind.com| Students & parents can have access to get reminders about homework, test, projects or important information that may help the student progress. In order to get the reminders using your cell phone please text to this number: 81010 the message: @ornelasp (and period number, no space 1,2,3 etc). Then reply with student name & last name.
